I am angry in a fun way! LA makes you that way after 6.5 years of residency.
I’m an ice cream connoisseur. It takes me about 6 attempts to spell connoisseur correctly.
I like to travel, although I’ve been fairly stuck in California over the past few years. At least it’s an alright place to be stuck.
I read. Lots. Too much.
I have a kitten who’s a bit of a pain in the ass. She has an awesome black goatee marking.
I’m moving to Austin, TX in August to get my masters in Information Studies (aka 21st century librarianship). I expect to gain at least 15 pounds from bbq consumption. I will have an affected Texan accent within 3 weeks of living there. I’m already working on inserting “y’all” in my day to day conversation.
That is all.

Ack! I’m from Texas! Hope you like it.
I hope so too! I’m sure there’ll be a lot of Texas focused posting as I get closer to moving. Thanks for checking out my blog!
Funny. My friend moved from LA after about six years saying the same thing. I can’t spell that word right away either. I like to travel but am stuck in Texas. I read and my mom has psycho kitty who I often called PITA. I won’t be moving any time soon, so y’all come on down, y’here?
Hey – a fellow librarian! I just finished my MLIS from UW – Milwaukee this past December. It was alot of hard work, but definitely worth it. Best of luck to you!
Thanks for the well wishes!
I gained 15 lbs from a 1 year master’s program …
Good luck!
Nooooooooooooooooooooooo. I’m kind of terrified of that. Hopefully I’ll muddle my way through without too much extra weight!
What fun to find your space today via Freshly Pressed, congratulations! Here’s to reading and drawls and kittens.
Thank you for stopping by!
Austin is perfect!
I’m from Orange County, but moved 4 years ago and haven’t looked back. Salt Lick BBQ might be the greatest thing on the planet. Good luck with the move!
Thank you! I’m so ready for bbq…my waistline may not be prepared though.
I enjoyed reading your non fiction book selections and then wandered over to your about you section. My heart sank when I read you’re going for an MLS. I guess you’re committed now, but let me urge you to focus on either the technology or archive aspects of that field. Those are about the only areas in demand. I know way too many newly minted MLS grads struggling to find even substitute work as they work coffee bars and contemplate their student loans.
Hi! Thanks for the advice. I’m actually heading towards digital archiving, as I’m not particularly interested in traditional librarianship. Hopefully that’ll make me a slightly more in demand job candidate…though it is pretty scary out there! Keeping my fingers crossed!
No one can be angrier than New Yorkers. Good luck on your move.
Ha, maybe true…though I’d say the people driving through Beverly Hills during their morning commute could give New Yorkers a run for their money.
Welcome to Austin! I am a transplanted San Franciscan. I occasionally miss California — the smell of water, the lack of feeling like I am being slow-roasted in a convection oven. But all in all, I am happy to be here. Austin has a lot going on, the people are friendly, and anything you want to do here is absolutely possible.
Thank you for the comment! I’m nervous about heading out to Texas, but I keep hearing all these wonderful things about Austin, so I’m sure I’ll like it. The heat does terrify me a bit though! I guess I’ll just have to get used to it…and drink lots of cold beer. That’ll help, I’m sure.
I just moved to Austin as well, and have not been here very long, but I love it so far! I happened upon your blog through your non-fiction picks post. Great stuff! Best wishes on your new adventures!
Thank you! I’m so glad to hear you love it. I’m nervous about uprooting my life, but I think Austin will be a great place to start fresh.
Hi…I stumbled across your blog through Pink of Perfection. Welcome to Texas! I hope it’s hot enough for you!
I live in San Antonio and actually visited Austin for the first time ever just a few months ago! Good luck with your degree!
